This image is squares and other shapes drawn in one-point perspective with a horizon line and orthogonal lines that connect at a vanishing point attached to the horizon line. The media I used for this piece is pencil. One new skill I used in this assignment was the concept of orthogonal lines, and drawing shapes so that they were created in relation to a vanishing point. The main art elements that appear in this drawing is line, value, and shape. The value is used so that the shapes that appear closer are darker, and the orthogonal lines are drawn in a lighter shade than the other lines. Lines are used to create the shapes, and shape is used to create dimension and perspective with the horizon line and vanishing point.

The picture looks like an array of lines manipulated into illusions, with a center of focus at the two large parallelograms in the center of the piece. The media is pencil. One new skill I learned was how to use value to make an object look as if it appeared in front of another object. The main art elements I used was value, relative size, overlap, shapes, edge and surface. The mood of this piece is relatively staccato, because all the lines are straight and edges are sharp. There are no curved lines to add softness to the piece. One thing this piece could mean is that there is no flexibility- the piece is adamant, and will not shift or change in light of a circumstance. I am able to draw this conclusion because there are only straight lines drawn. My picture looks like a star in the midst of a fluid enclosure of lines. The media I used was pencil. Most if my art was done with a HB pencil, and some was done with 2B. A new skill I learned for his assignment is how to use value to make lines appear closer or farther away. The composition of this piece is relatively symmetrical but off center, so as to let the viewers challgenge their expectations of a perfect dimensional drawing. I used various shapes and kinds of polygons, to give the piece diversity. This piece, although it has diversity, is unified at the center of focus, which is where the shapes come together to form a star. The feeling and mood of this piece is soft, with edges and a finish that doesn't leave the viewer uncomfortable. This piece shows that dimensions that are man made don't always have to be perfect, and that having different perspectives of life can lead to self-fulfillment. |
